The Eastern Police District (EPD) is now set and ready to secure the safety of the public for the upcoming “Undas 2018’. The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) Chief Director Guillermo Lorenzo T Eleazar announced that more than three thousand (3,000) policemen will be deployed to secure cemeteries in Metro Manila before and during the observance of All Saints’ and Souls’ Day.

In EPD, more or less 800 cops will be deployed to guard 15 cemeteries within Metro-East. PCSUPT BERNABE M BALBA, District Director, upon the announcement of the NCRPO Chief, sets the operational guidelines and procedures to be undertaken during this coming “Undas 2018” to ensure peace and order and public safety in the cemeteries of Metro-East.

According to PCSUPT BERNABE M BALBA, District Director, EPD “As we all expect, this occasion creates traffic congestion along major roads coming from transport terminals, thus the occurrence of accidents are expected to happen. Apart from that, situations during this event differ fom year to year. The need to review as well as update the security and traffic plans being implemented is necessary. Thus, target hardening measures must also be implemented to preempt possible occurrence of criminal and terroristic acts like bombing and other similar attacks that might disrupt the observance of a peaceful UNDAS 2018. Likewise, lateral coordination with Metro East Coordinating Council (MECC) and LGU’s in the community will also be done.

“Ligtas Undas 2018” is not just a normal holiday and people expect that we can strictly implement security measures and prevent crimes that would eventually not hinder the time they can spend with their departed loved ones. So let us not fail them”, PCSUPT BALBA also added.

However, EPD will still continue its campaign against crimes and drugs amidst the security preparations for All Saints’ and Souls’ Day.
