The Eastern Police District (EPD) conducted surprise drug test in coordination with the EPD Crime Laboratory to all the members of the Station Drug Enforcement Unit of the four (4) city police stations of Pasig, Mandaluyong, Marikina, San Juan and the District Drug Enforcement Unit.
A total of ninety-four (94) operatives undergone the surprise drug test as part of the Philippine National Police’s (PNP) internal cleansing program particularly to test and make sure that those personnel implementing the war on drugs are all drug free.
EPD Director PBGEN CHRISTOPHER E TAMBUNGAN together with the members of the Command Group supervised their men in submitting the urine specimens to the SOCO Team as they undergo the screening process at the EPD Headquarters Conference Hall, Pasig City today.
“This is for all of you. But see to it, that it will work out good. Also, I sternly warn any police officer not to tolerate any member of the organization who violates the law and gets involved in illegal drugs. Thus, I will punish them in the name of the law,” PBGEN TAMBUNGAN said to EPD Officers during the Command Conference prior to the conduct of drug testing.
Furthermore, PBGEN TAMBUNGAN informed those who are not around during the test and are attending court hearings to secure and submit their Certificate of Court Appearance to justify their absence in coordination with the EPD Intelligence Unit.
“As District Director, I greatly support this activity since I want my men to become role models of Excellence, Professionalism and Discipline to better serve the community and to get rid of illegal drugs, criminality and corruption,” PBGEN TAMBUNGAN added.
The drug testing is in compliance with the directive of PNP Chief Police General OSCAR DAVID ALBAYALDE to cleanse the ranks from Officers down to the lowest rank as part of the PNP internal cleansing strategy of the organization to get rid of misfits and scalawags in the organization.###
