The Eastern Police District (EPD) policemen officially casted their votes through the local absentee voting today. A total of fifty-four (54) EPD personnel from the four city police stations of Pasig, Mandaluyong, Marikina, San Juan, and the District Headquarters casted their votes at Matikas Hall, EPD Headquarters, Pasig City from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM today.

This activity is in line with the statement of PNP Chief, PGEN OSCAR DAVID ALBAYALDE asserting that more than a right, suffrage is an individual duty of every citizen that he must faithfully perform, more so for police personnel whom citizens look up to as advocates of honest, fair and orderly elections.

To support this statement, EPD Director PBGEN CHRISTOPHER E TAMBUNGAN said that while police officers are busy for their security preparations in the upcoming election, still there’s no exemption for them to vote. The fact that they are also Filipino citizens living in this democratic country which makes them entitled to do so.

Furthermore, PBGEN Tambungan is grateful that COMELEC made a resolution with regard to the Local Absentee Voting (LAV) that can be availed by members of the Philippine National Police (PNP) so long as they are registered voters but will not be able to vote on Election Day due to the performance of their sworn duties. The participation of EPD personnel in the midterm elections makes every single vote count.

Present also in the casting of votes was former District Director of EPD, PBGEN BERNABE M BALBA. ###
